Follow-up to My “Additional Pinging” Post…

A few weeks ago I posted on the importance of adding more sites to “ping” whenever you post to your blog. While this is still the case, it was pointed-out to me that some ISP’s may get irritated with the amount of bandwidth getting used with all the extra pinging.
You see, WordPress will ping the sites you have selected each time you make a change to a post, change to a draft of a post or actually publish a post.
So, if you are performing lots of editing of a post, adding pictures to a draft, etc. you will be performing lots of unecessary pinging and this is what can irritate the ISP’s. BUT, there is hope. This solution comes in the form of a plugin for WordPress. It is called: MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer.
You can find this plugin through your dashboard under the “plugins” section. Just type “MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer” into the search box and get it downloaded. Get this plugin installed before your blog gets banned!

Lee,
Excellent post — I worried about how many times I was pinging when I would make changes to a post. I should have known there was a word press plugin to solve the problem! Thanks for sharing this info! -Norene

Thanks for the information. I would try to locate the plugin and use it on my blog. The idea of having your site banned is somewhat scary, so this type of information is certainly welcome.
Kelwyn,
Glad to help. Please keep checking back for more useful info!

You are so correct, and it is sad to think that so many new WordPress Bloggers do not know this.
I have this plugin installed and it work great. You can also load it up with a boat load of pinging services.
I also suggest creating a Blogspot blog for using Post and Ping. Use the “send to” button on the Google toolbar to send updates from any post to your Blogpsot blog.
