This is a question that I asked myself several times over the past number of years.  Until I enrolled in Alex Jeffrey’s most recent course, the reasons were not really clear to me.  Well, now they are.

An ebook is a great way to share your knowledge.  I know from personal experience that sharing is one of the greatest gifts you can give…not only to the recipient of the information, but to yourself as well!  Knowing that you have helped someone solve a problem is one of the best feelings of self-worth on the planet.

Before I started writting my ebook, I had the thought ‘what do I have to offer?’.  I have not made 10’s of millions of dollars on the internet!  What could I possibly have to offer of value?

Then one day I was in the forum area for Alex’s students when someone asked a question about FileZilla (an FTP for moving files from your PC to your site on the internet).  I found myself answering their question before I could stop myself!  As a result, other people asked me questions about other stuff…some I had answers for, others I did not…and that is OK.

Suddenly, I realized that I did have something to offer.  Maybe not to everyone, but, to someone…so I started writing.  Before I knew it, I had pages and pages of content without breaking a sweat!

Now that my ebook is finished, a second benefit is coming to light.  As people sign-up for their free copy of my ebook, my list is growing!   So, now I am helping people get a WordPress blog up and running (easily and quickly) and building my list in parallel.  It is a win-win for everyone.

A few weeks ago I posted on the importance of adding more sites to “ping” whenever you post to your blog.  While this is still the case, it was pointed-out to me that some ISP’s may get irritated with the amount of bandwidth getting used with all the extra pinging.

You see, WordPress will ping the sites you have selected each time you make a change to a post, change to a draft of a post or actually publish a post.

So, if you are performing lots of editing of a post, adding pictures to a draft, etc. you will be performing lots of unecessary pinging and this is what can irritate the ISP’s.  BUT, there is hope.  This solution comes in the form of a plugin for WordPress.  It is called:  MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer.

You can find this plugin through your dashboard under the “plugins” section.  Just type “MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer” into the search box and get it downloaded.  Get this plugin installed before your blog gets banned!

First off, what is “SEO”?  SEO is and acronymn for “Search Engine Optimization”.  This is the practice of optimizing a website/blog to attract the search engine “bots”.  If your website/blog is optimized correctly, the search engines see it as “being of value” to their search customers and bumps you up in the rankings.

One critical component of SEO is “backlinking”.  This is the process of having high quality incoming links connected to your website/blog.

What is considered a “high quality” link and how do I get them?  A “high quality” link is a link that has quality content similar to the content that is on your website/blog.  For instance, this blog is about internet marketing and success on the internet.  A high quality backlink would be another site that is about internet marketing and success on the interent (such as Alex Jeffreys or Garry Parkes blogs).  Websites/blogs that have your website/blog keywords in the anchor text are golden backlink candidates!

An example of a “low quality” backlink would contain information about (for instance) pet products.  A pet product site has nothing to do with internet marketing, so the search engines would not place much value on this backlink.  The search engines may even penalize you for having such a link as it may appear to them that you are link spamming, a very bad thing!

A quick way to get several high quality backlinks is by submiting to directorys.  The search engines crawl these sites several 100 times per day.  Each time they crawl they see your website/blog as being linked to the directory and assume it is a quality link and gives your site “clout” in the rankings.

There are several SW products that sell for $100.00 or more that will get this done for you automatically…BUT, you can get a FREE one right here!  How cool is that?  Either click the “Free Back Links Generator” button on the right, or click “HERE”.  A fellow Alex Jeffreys student created this little program and was generous enough to share!  Thanks Keith!!

OK, get busy getting your FREE high quality backlinks!  Oh yeah, also post comments on other blogs that have similar content to yours.  When the moderator of the blog you just commented-on posts a reply to your post, presto you have another high quality backlink!!
